Ilbio is a smooth and sumptuous red wine with a distinctive alcoholic edge and soft, dense tannins. Aged for 10 months in barrel and then 6 months in bottle, this Rosso dell'Umbria, by Lungarotti, is made from organically grown grapes and represents the culmination of a new family project aimed at creating a wine that is both pleasant and easy to drink. The attention to detail is also evident in the label, which depicts the land registry of the Tenuta di Montefalco estate owned by Lungarotti. Just as the land registry once indicated the key features of each estate, here the key characteristics of the vineyard from which the grapes are grown and the unique characteristics of the wine itself are depicted.
Lungarotti's Umbria IGT "Ilbio" displays a bright, intense ruby red color and an intriguing aroma of licorice, cinnamon stick, and sweet tobacco, followed by resin and toasted pine nuts, all against a backdrop of red fruit jam. The palate is soft and sumptuous, with a distinctive alcoholic edge and soft, dense tannins. The finish is long and persistent, reminiscent of red fruit and a balsamic touch.
Very versatile at the table, it is perfect with poultry and red meat dishes, but also tasty soups.
