The "Branciforti dei Bordonaro" Catarratto comes from the lush hills of Tenuta di Gelso Grande, 300 meters above sea level, on medium-textured, clay-rich soils. The grapes are harvested in the last ten days of September, and the Catarratto is vinified in temperature-controlled steel vats (temperature control ensures that fermentation occurs slowly and steadily, preventing fermentation blockages that could kill the wine's yeasts and potentially trigger fermentations by other fungi or unsuitable bacteria; in the case of white and rosé wines, it is particularly important to preserve the aromas). The wine ages for an initial month on the lees in steel and another month in the bottle.
The Catarratto "Branciforti dei Bordonaro" displays a straw yellow color with pale golden highlights. The nose is floral with orange blossom and wisteria, with hints of aromatic herbs and balsamic seeds. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with a slight salty note.
Perfect to accompany a dinner with raw seafood, but also a delicate first course, such as pennette with crab.
