Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the renowned Vigna Valferana cru, this Gattinara is one of the appellation's cornerstones, an austere and profound wine that, in this Alpine terroir, delivers a truly exemplary expression. The Valferana vines are over 30 years old and, at 320 meters above sea level, are well-equipped to produce a wine like this. Add the iron- and manganese-rich soil and Conterno's touch, and the style takes shape through a clean, deep, and powerful palate. 48 months in oak barrels, 6 months in concrete, and another 6 months in bottle contribute to the refinement of one of the finest wines on the market.

Gattinara DOCG Vigna Valferana Nervi Giacomo Conterno presents a deep ruby red color, verging on garnet, on a complex nose of mineral and fruity notes, followed by iron, blood orange, and graphite, red berries, and juniper, all seasoned with hints of Alpine herbs and cardamom. A palate that demands the taster's full attention, it is austere and rigorous, savory, balanced in freshness, and very persistent in its insistent minerality. An exemplary Gattinara, perfectly in keeping with its terroir.

COMBINATIONS

With agnolotti with ragù or even a fillet with green pepper, it pairs well with mature and very tasty cheeses.
