According to legend, one day a light rose into a black sky above the town of Oban, guided by a mythological being. It was a lively creature, raining down from the sky in an explosion of purple lights and spreading throughout the Oban distillery, infusing a rare, otherworldly sweetness. That night, an Aurora Borealis illuminated the picturesque town, and those sensations inspired this 2022 Special Release: a supernatural Oban characterized by aging in new American oak refill casks and double maturation in ex-Sherry & Amontillado casks. New flavors from one of Scotland's smallest and oldest distilleries.

 

Single Malt 10 Years Old Special Release Oban

The Oban 10-Year-Old Special Release Single Malt presents a pale gold color upon tasting. It initially reveals a delicate nose of overripe fruit, followed by maritime notes of seaweed, salt crystals, and sea breeze. As it breathes, the whisky releases a light smoky note, along with oily hints of brine and a subtle hint of lemon. The palate has a soft and creamy texture, reminiscent of the sweetness of plum and violet, tempered by spice and savory notes.

How to taste it

Quite long and surprisingly peppery finish, with a maritime aftertaste.
