Langhe Alteni di Brassica Gaja 2023 75 cl
This great white wine by Angelo Gaja is an ode to his terroir! It was 1983 when the man known abroad as "The King of Barbaresco" decided to plant Sauvignon Blanc vines on the same land where he produced his celebrated red, having always believed that the mineral content of the subsoil would be the perfect breeding ground for this grape variety. The rest is history: one of the greatest Italian whites, powerful and structured yet unmistakably elegant and refined, enhanced by six months of aging in small French oak barrels.
Langhe DOP "Alteni di Brassica" Gaja
The Langhe DOP "Alteni di Brassica" Gaja displays a bright straw yellow color. The nose evokes hawthorn, exotic and tropical fruit, followed by wild green hints of nettle and medicinal herbs, with hints of anise. On the palate, it's tasty, savory, and full-bodied, displaying a distinct freshness that signals a promising evolution, with at least five years to go.
COMBINATIONS
With a pistachio-crusted salmon steak, scampi risotto, lobster linguine, and grilled fish main courses; but also with salt-baked pork loin or, if you dare, buffalo mozzarella.
