Prohibited Rum Ron Solera 12 YO 70cl
"El Ron Prohibido" has its roots in the 18th century, when Spanish ships arriving in America laden with wine reserves began filling their barrels with "Chinguirito," Mexican rum, instead of returning to Spain with empty barrels. Demand for "Chinguirito," enriched by the sweet notes released by the wood in the barrels, became so high that King Philip V of Spain was forced to ban its production to protect the domestic trade in Spanish spirits and limit the disastrous effects of excessive drinking on society.
Prohibited Rum Ron Solera 12 YO
Rum Prohibido Ron Solera 12 YO, made with caramelized molasses, matures for 12 years in former Spanish sweet wine barrels. The Solera process gives it an incomparable sweetness and aromatic depth. In the glass, it presents a dark mahogany color with seductive reddish highlights. On the nose, an intense bouquet of raisins, dried fruit, vanilla, and chocolate unfolds, complemented by delicate woody nuances. The flavor is full and velvety, characterized by caramel, honey, toasted nuts, and sweet wine. The lingering finish is smooth and sweet, with a touch of oak spice and dark chocolate.
How to taste it
Enjoy this rum neat or on the rocks to bring out its delicate aromas. It pairs perfectly with dark chocolate, caramelized nuts, or vanilla desserts. It's also ideal as a base for refined cocktails like a Rum Old Fashioned or a Dark & Stormy.
